The intention of this course is to provide high school sophomores, juniors and seniors an opportunity to prepare and expand on their portfolio for admission to art school, college and university. We will examine the application process of what art programs are both in search of, and requiring from your portfolio. The class objectives include art historical references with each project, exploration of various media, life drawing from a nude model, and class critiques. The goal for the students is to enhance their existing portfolio and help prepare them for admissions to college. A sketchbook (no smaller than 8"x10" and no larger than 11"x14") is required. Scholarships are available. Visit the website at 973-259-5159 for more information.

This course provides an opportunity for older teens and adults to work directly from the figure to explore sketching the human form and anatomy. It is especially useful for students 16 and older that need life drawing experience not provided in high school art curriculum. Working from the nude model, a classical approach provides the basis for understanding the relationship of form and technique. Students will draw with charcoal, pencil and a variety of other mediums. Class limited to 12 students. Please see www.montclairartmuseum.org for a list of supplies.
